Piston life depends on so many things - but mainly how hard the engine has been worked and the frequency of oil changes.
The relativly slow reving motor in the Savage, the low power output plus the relaxed riding style of the bike means I would expect the piston to last at least 50,000 miles and possibly nearer 80,000.
This is based on my experiences with other bikes. My Savage has done only 8,000 miles, so I will let you know how long my piston lasted in about 8 years !!!
Have you problems with your bike that make you suspect piston wear?
